College can be a tough environment for gay, bisexual, and transgender students. The statistics are troubling. LGBT college students have lower graduation rates, higher rates of depression, and higher rates of suicide when compared to the general population. The Beta Foundation and Sigma Phi Beta Fraternity have partnered to tackle these issues head-on by creating permanent support networks, developing programming, and providing financial guidance and support to ensure that today's gay youth have all they need to succeed in college.

The Beta Foundation works closely with Sigma Phi Beta Fraternity, the nation's only exclusively college-based gay-straight allied fraternity. Sigma Phi Beta provides gay, bisexual, trangendered men and their allies a unique space within the traditional Greek Life setting where they can experience brotherhood, be themselves and be accepted for who they are. Sigma Phi Beta is not only changing the lives of its members, it is impacting the campus climate on college campuses nationwide. That impact is made even greater with the support of the Beta Foundation.

The Beta Foundation works to support programs that develop and strengthen leadership, scholarship, and character in the membership of Sigma Phi Beta Fraternity while engaging in philanthropic activities in support of other charities locally and nationally.

The Foundation provides members of Sigma Phi Beta with scholarships and leadership building opportunities to further the fraternity's mission. Additionally, because the Fraternity values philanthropy and community service, the Foundation supports other charitable organizations. This is done primarily through the designation of a national philanthropy supported by fundraising efforts that the fraternity's chapter members and alumni organize
